Accomplishments

Our advocates most recent accomplishments to date include:

New picnic tables at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum.

The restoration of the sluice gate at the Chittenango Feeder.

Numerous boat floats to raise awareness on the ability to paddle the Old Erie Canal and the need for kayak launches. Canastota hosted 2 boat floats paddling from Canastota to Chittenango, and the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, in partnership with Madison County, hosted 4. In total, the paddles brought over 800 kayakers to the Old Erie Canal.

In 2023, the Old Erie Canal’s first kayak launch was installed at the Poolsbrook trailhead in Manlius, NY.

Improved wayfinding signage that provides mileage, location, and directional guidance on nearby attractions throughout the Old Erie Canal Corridor.

I love my park day cleanups and canal clean sweep events throughout the Old Erie Canal Corridor.
